Morgan Silver Dollar

First issued in 1878, the Morgan Silver Dollar was born during a transformative period in American history. Named for its designer, U.S. Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan, the coin features a classical portrait of Liberty on the obverse and an American eagle with outstretched wings on the reverse. Struck in 90% silver, Morgan Dollars were produced from 1878 through 1904 and again in 1921 at the Philadelphia, San Francisco, Carson City and New Orleans Mints, with Denver joining the series for its final year.
